æther :: so, i quickly looked through the movie’s prequel comic
and found it lacking. they revamped the whole background for the movie, taking his mother out of the picture (she was not the previous guardian here) and thus changing him from a victim with no choice to a mage who chose to dabble in fel magic and who rendered himself open to possession by Sargeras.
maybe they had to. there are a lot of turns and twists to Medivh’s story that would take too much time on the screen to tell and this is a W1 era story all in all, albeit, as was confirmed, in wrappings of a separate timeline. not The Last Guardian, a movie, yadda-yadda. pity that.
still, they changed his background, so now Medivh might never even resurrect in the movie timeline, lacking the aid of his mother. and look, Khadgar is still young by the end of the movie. which is okay by me.
overall, however, it’s not a very good comic. average, at best, both in terms of the drawing style and the plot. and there was no cheating Medivh, even though they had a perfect opportunity to insert a cheating Medivh, i am insulted and affronted and I am going to disregard that part of the timeline when i’ll get to headcanons
